![]() Maggie Ulm decided to take to the road and ask companies, groups and individuals to care about educators and their students.
Did you know that our teachers dig into their own pockets to buy classroom supplies for children? Did you know that they also provide shoes, clothing, lunch money and a lot more? They make these sacrifices out of concern for the children. Margaret Ulm, a mother and small businesswoman, recognized that life in the classroom changed since she was in school. She decided to adopt Louise Nagata, first grade teacher at Gus Webling Elementary, and help provide materials for her classroom. From that idea, Maggie knew that others wanted an avenue to give back to teachers and help provide the best education for all children. So she used her energy and resourcefulness to form the Adopt A Teacher organization. Adopt A Teacher is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes and supports teachers and students. Commitment Statement and Goals Our commitment is to provide all school age children, the best education possible no matter where they may live by encouraging companies, groups, and individuals to promote and support teachers. To accomplish this commitment, teachers register and complete a "Teachers' Wish List." This list focuses on three primary goals with each goal to be achieved by a specific program. Here are our three goals, with which companies, groups, and individuals may participate. First Goal: Provide teachers with instructional resource materials and current technology by providing items on a "Teachers' Wish List" Second Goal: Help teachers provide basic supplies, field trips, and other necessities for children by helping the teacher "Adopt A Student" Third Goal: Promote quality by supporting teachers and students with "Continuing Education programs" Continuing Education Listing "Dear folks, all I wanted to say is thanks. Thank you for giving teachers something to cheer about. To see people rally around us is inspiring and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate that. I think the community always wanted to help but they never really knew how. Your program gives them the link they need to make an immediate impact in the classroom and more importantly, on the kids."
Your tax-deductible contribution to a teacher enables you to make a direct and measurable impact within the classroom, but more importantly for generations to follow. In The News |
